Olmert commends Australia's decision to impose special sanctions on Iran

Prime Minister Ehud Olmert on Tuesday commended the decision made two weeks ago by the Australian government to impose special sanctions on Iran above and beyond those that have been imposed by the UN Security Council. Speaking after a meeting with Australian Foreign Minister Stephen Smith, Olmert said that while there were countries that talked about the danger of a nuclear Iran, Australia was among those that also took action. The prime minister added that Australia should be an example to other countries to increase international pressure on Teheran so that it halts its nuclear program. During Tuesday's meeting, the Olmert and Smith emphasized the strong and friendly state of bilateral relations that had prevailed since Israel's establishment.
