Olmert to make special address on Schalit issue at 8 p.m.

Prime Minister Ehud Olmert will make a statement on the matter of captured IDF soldier Gilad Schalit at 8 p.m. Tuesday. The address will follow a special three-hour cabinet meeting in Jerusalem Tuesday afternoon, in which negotiators on the issue Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) chief Yuval Diskin and Ofer Dekel, Olmert's point man on the Schalit issue, reported on recent negotiations with Hamas in Cairo. After the meeting, Olmert invited the Schalit family to his office to update them on the cabinet decision.
