In a message passed to Syria through a third party Thursday overnight, Vice Premier Shimon Peres stressed that Israel's calling up of three reserve divisions was not done with the intent of opening a front with Syria, Israel Radio reported Friday.
Syria had recently put its military on a very heightened state of alert.
Defense Minister Amir Peretz said Thursday that Israel was not at all interested in opening a front with Syria.
