Schalit family: Gilad's release must be linked to cease-fire deal

The family of captive IDF soldier Gilad Schalit on Tuesday evening demanded that their son's release be "a preliminary condition in any cease-fire agreement" between Israel and Hamas. The security cabinet is set to convene Wednesday morning in order to decide on Israel's final stance on a deal that would see the release of Schalit. During a tour of the Western Wall tunnels in Jerusalem Tuesday, Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said that he hoped an agreement to secure Schalit's release would be finalized soon.
