Dozens of mounted policemen, search dogs and volunteers scoured sites in Netanya and the banks of the Yarkon River in Tel Aviv, and scuba divers continued to search the river's murky waters, for the body of four-year-old Rose Pizem over the weekend. Her grandfather Ronnie Ron from Netanya has confessed to killing her and dumping her body in the river. But after police feared poisoning in the polluted river could harm scuba divers conducting the search, searchers left the stream traversing Tel Aviv. The searches resumed on Sunday morning with an increased focus on Netanya, where Sharon region police will comb the area. Border Police officers will search along Highway 2 starting from Netanya, and head south until they reach the Yarkon. Police have grown increasingly distrustful of Ron's claim to have thrown the body over the Bavli Bridge into the Yarkon in north Tel Aviv three months ago. Ron may be concerned that finding Rose's body will undermine his claim to have accidentally killed the girl in a rage, and would instead show that her slaying had been a premeditated murder, police said.
