Senior university lecturers, Finance Ministry formalizing agreement

The nearly three-month-long senior lecturers strike appeared to be at its end on Friday morning as representatives from the Senior Lecturers Union (SLU) and the Finance Ministry were formulating an agreement of principles. The parties were expected to sign an agreement based on Histadrut Labor Federation head Ofer Eini's compromise proposal to end the lecturers strike following a night of negotiations. The SLU had taken Eini's proposal to a late night negotiating session on Thursday with Finance Minister Ronnie Bar-On and senior Treasury officials, in an attempt to save the fall university semester. It was the first time Bar-On has met with the lecturers since the strike began 88 days ago.
