Suspects in murder of Prof. Niv to be released to house arrest

The Tel Aviv Magistrate's Court ruled on Thursday that all four suspects in the murder of Professor David Niv will be released to house arrest, should a police appeal against the decision fail. Prior to the Rosh Hashana holiday, police asked the court to extend the remand of the suspects by another 15 days, but their request was rejected due to a lack of evidence against the four. Prof. David Niv, director of the pain clinic at Tel Aviv's Sourasky Medical Center, was shot to death on February 6, 2007 while driving home on the Aluf Sadeh Highway in Ramat Gan. His car was riddled with bullets and investigators said it looked like the work of professional hit men.
