1. FILM
BURLESQUE
The Burlesque Lounge has its best days behind it. Tess (Cher), a retired dancer and owner of the venue, struggles to keep the aging theater alive. Meanwhile, the life of Ali (Christina Aguilera), is about to change dramatically. Hired by Tess as a waitress at the Lounge, Ali escapes a hollow past and quickly falls in love with the art of burlesque. Things take a turn when Ali’s big voice makes her become the main attraction of the revue.

2. JAZZ
TAKING FLIGHT
Dee Alexander and her quartet will perform at the closing of the Tel Aviv Jazz Festival 2011. Alexander is one of Chicago’s most respected female vocalists/songwriters. Her talents span from gospel to R&B, from blues to neo-soul. Yet her true strength is in her jazz performance, from the soft traditional ballad to the contemporary jazz-funk.

RUN TO MASADA
The first ever run for the peak of Masada is attracting local and international enthusiasts, amongst them diplomats, Knesset members and CEOs. They will tackle the rough route up the Snake Path tomorrow, as a preface to the annual Ein Gedi run for families, on Saturday.
The Massada rough track consists of 2.5 km. of rocky and sandy trails, followed by 750 steep stone steps in the final 300 meters to the summit. Participants will be limited to 300 runners, divided into six groups of 50.

4. MUSIC
SAD IS BEAUTIFUL
The popular liturgical series of the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra- IBA opens with a concert featuring two of the most popular and important requiems in the repertoire, those by Fauré and by Brahms. Canadian conductor Keri-Lynn Wilson leads the Israeli Opera Chorus and soloists soprano Hila Baggio (Israel), British baritone George Mosley in this special program.
Tuesday at the Opera House in Tel Aviv and Wednesday at the Henry Crown Symphony Hall in Jerusalem.
5. TELEVISION

Channel 1 is presenting an original fourpart documentary series And the Winner Is, hosted by singer/songwriter Muki in anticipation of the Eurovision Song Contest. The first episode, “Little House on the Prairie,” will be devoted to the ’70s, illustrating the transition, at least in TV terms, from a small country surrounded by enemies to an empire in its own eyes, winning no less than the European basketball championship, Miss World and two Eurovision song contests in a row.

DETERMINE GOOD TASTE
”The Gatekeepers,” an exhibition in the Haifa Museum, tries to establish, through video and sound works that have been scattered throughout the museum (and not without a touch of criticism), what is “good taste.” Are the “gatekeepers” – the curators – the ones to say?
The pieces presented are reactionary works to the powers that be and an honorary acknowledgment to those within the network. All the participating artists have a uniting ironic look that is reflective of the organization to which they belong.

GETTING HOTTER
The fifth concert in the Hot Jazz series brings drumming legend Rodney Green to Israel. He will perform with Seamus Blake, saxophone, Assaf Kehati, guitar, and Noam Vizenberg, bass.
The successful Hot Jazz series brings together worldrenowned musicians and local emerging talents. The quartet, created especially for the festival, will perform pieces written by Monk, Bernstein, Ellington, Coltrain, Art Blakeley and Kenny Bron, and a few original pieces by Seamus Blake.

SOUNDS OF PEACE
Henrik Chaim Goldschmidt, principal oboist of The Royal Danish Orchestra, Copenhagen and founder of the Middle East Peace Orchestra, returns to the Bible Lands Museum Jerusalem accompanied by accordionist Anders Singh Vesterdahl and special guest oud player Bilal Irshed. The performance includes a repertoire of Scandinavian songs, Middle-Eastern traditional music, classical works and a selection of their own compositions.

9. SHUT UP
The Sirens, an all-female vocal group, will perform a very special evening of music called “Not Allowed to Sing,” composed to Hanoch Levin’s theater plays. Together with actor Dror Keren, the group, led by soprano and vocal trainer Shosh Lagil, will sing many musical gems usually limited to the stage. When it came to flamenco, Antonio Gades was the king. Though he died in 2004, his company continues to grow and expand, carrying his legacy of work to new cities and countries each year.
