Charity calls for winter clothing

The Lev Het-Shin charity says it has insufficient clothes, shoes, umbrellas, blankets and heaters for all those who need them.

Haifa's poor are desperately short of winter clothes and blankets and a local charity is urging donors to provide such items urgently, reports Yediot Haifa. The Lev Het-Shin charity, which runs a warehouse in the Hadar neighborhood that distributes needed goods to the poor, says it has insufficient clothes, shoes, umbrellas, blankets and heaters for all those who need them. According to the report, a spokesman for the charity said many people were desperate. "It pains me to hear about children coming to school without boots in the rain or covering themselves with towels at night because they don't have blankets," he said. The spokesman urged anyone with spare winter items to call the charity on (04) 867-2999. Pick-ups can be arranged for those who cannot deliver the items themselves. The spokesman said the organization would repair broken heaters and sew up torn coats and blankets.
