The city of Eilat and the Ministry for Environmental Protection are going head to head in a battle over a planned fence at the resort city's new beach for religious swimmers, reports www.local.co.il. The city wants to extend the fence into the water, claiming that it is legally permitted to build the fence 30 meters into the water. But the ministry says this would not be legal at all, and is threatening to take legal action on criminal grounds against the municipality. The ministry also says that such a fence would harm the local ecology.
