According to a press release from Refuah V' Yeshua, the Ashdod Emergency Medical Center will comprise approximately 16,000 square meters and will include the following facilities: • Emergency room, including medical, surgical, orthopedic and pediatric ER facilities, as well as a complete trauma room - a significant portion of the ER and the entire trauma room will be fortified against conventional, biological and chemical attack. • Cardiology, preventive medicine, gynecology, pediatrics, mammography, ophthalmology and pain clinics. • Dialysis unit, as well as surgical areas for ambulatory surgical procedures - including the fields of urology, gastroenterology and orthopedics • Imaging institute including X-ray, nuclear camera and state of the art PACS technology. "The project," continues the press release, "is designed and overseen by world-renowned experts, and in conjunction with experts from Sheba Tel Hashomer Hospital, Israel's largest medical center. The emergency medical center will operate as an independent not-for-profit facility. It will provide state-of-the-art medical care, meeting community healthcare needs and the medical and human needs of the individual patient and his or her family. An area of 20 acres has been allotted by the Israel Lands Authority and reserved for the establishment of the medical complex in Ashdod. Space has been allocated to the Ashdod Emergency Medical Center, and building has commenced. The area is earmarked for the eventual construction of a full-fledged, comprehensive regional medical center."
