Technion, Yale join forces in bomb protection project

Technion-Israel and Yale researchers working together to protect military vehicles from bombs.

Researchers from the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology and from Yale University have joined forces in a project that aims to reduce the damage caused by roadside bombs to passing military vehicles, reports www.mynet.co.il. The $1.25 million project, funded by American real estate mogul and philanthropist Daniel Rose, aims to come up with technical models for reducing the effects of the bombs, which have become the "preferred weapon" for terrorists against soldiers in areas such as the Gaza Strip and in countries such as Iraq in recent years. A Technion professor said that both the Israeli and American Defense Ministries had expressed interest in the outcome of the project.
