A central Jerusalem park will be established in memory of the late Jerusalem Mayor Teddy Kollek, officials said Monday.
The park, which will be located opposite the Jaffa Gate, will be constructed by The Jerusalem Foundation, a non-profit philanthropic organization Kollek founded four decades ago.
The park will include a promenade and an outdoor amphitheater where city cultural events will be held.
Funding for the planned park will come from donors from around the world, The Jerusalem Foundation said.
The precise budget for the park was still unclear, a group spokeswoman said.
Kollek, who served as mayor for nearly three decades, was a founder of significant landmarks of the modern city, including the Israel Museum, the Jerusalem Theater, the Cinematheque, the Kahn Theater and other cultural institutions.
Kollek died in January at the age of 95.
