The late Mrs. Evelyn H. Lauder, who initiated the Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign 26 years ago, has made Estée Lauder Companies the world’s most recognized partner in the fight against the disease. She was a partner in the creation of the famous Pink Ribbon and Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF) campaign in more than 70 countries, raising over $50 million in research, education, and medical services worldwide, of which $ 38 million of this amount has funded 152 BCRF research projects over the past 20 years.
In Israel, Estée Lauder Companies is also very active in contributing to the community, especially in the field of breast cancer awareness. The group has been working with the Israel Cancer Association for the past 17 years to promote awareness of breast cancer. Each October, which is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a new campaign is launched to bring the disease to the public forefront. As part of the joint project, various sites in Israel have been lit up in pink in October, including Old Jaffa, Tel Aviv City Hall, the Jerusalem Strings Bridge, the Peres Center for Peace in Jaffa, the Azrieli Towers in Tel Aviv, the Tower of David and the Shrine of the Book in Jerusalem, the University of Haifa, the Mann Auditorium and Kirya Tower in Tel Aviv and this year the Luna Park’s ferris wheel was lit with a pink light.
This year, Estée Lauder Companies together with the Israel Cancer Association initiated a collaboration with the Golbary fashion chain, which sold a capsule collection of pink fashion items - the color of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Some 30% of the amount collected from the sale of the collection will be donated to the Israel Cancer Association for portable early examination devices and research.
Estée Lauder Companies’ veteran employees volunteering in hospitals
Estée Lauder Companies has established a team composed of workers who are just before retirement age and those who have already retired. The aim is to benefit from the knowledge and skills acquired by employees during their years of work in the company in order to contribute and impart their knowledge to the community.
The team, composed mainly of the group’s makeup specialists and beauty counselors, conducts makeup and grooming workshops for hospitalized patients in oncology departments throughout the country as well as family members who accompany them and are at their side in hospitals.
As part of these workshops, each of the patients receives a beauty treatment, matching makeup colors and custom textures for each one, adapting beauty products according to their needs, and more.
The workshops are a great success among the patients and the line waiting for them before each visit speaks for itself.
There is no doubt that beyond the color they add to the patients at each visit, Estée Lauder’s team also helps them feel good about themselves and in general.
