City Notes: Urban food market popping up in the White City

Foodies rejoice! A three-floor pop-up market of food and drinks is making its way to Tel Aviv on March 4.
The first-ever “Food Market.TLV” will bring those in the food industry together with those who love to indulge in edible delights. Setting up shop at central Tel Aviv’s Table Talk restaurant, the project will feature a broad range of foods and beverages – including street food, delicatessen, pastries, groceries and homemade beer and wine.
The first floor of the complex will offer street and yard food, including natural products made on Israeli farms, along with comfort food and snacks such as pastries, all to be washed down with coffee-based cocktails. On the second floor of the market, visitors are welcome to taste dishes from Table Talk restaurant’s slightly upscale menu. More food and drinks will be available on the third floor of the venue, where patrons can bring their food from other floors to enjoy scenic views of the city in a lounge environment.
Estonian-Israeli music festival tunes-up Tel Aviv
Many of the biggest names in Estonian and Israeli music are merging for the fourth year in the Tallinn-Tel Aviv Music Festival, which opened this week and will run until March 1.
Some 300 musicians, more than 100 of whom are Estonian, are taking part in the initiative devised by composer and violinist Andres Mustonen.
Noted ensembles from Israel participating in the festival include the Rishon Lezion and Jerusalem Symphony Orchestras, the Israel Chamber Orchestra and the Tel Aviv Soloists Ensemble. Hailing from Estonia, the Collegium Musicale Chamber Choir and the Tallinn Boys’ Choir are taking the stage in the series of 20 concerts featured during the festival. Other Estonian artists taking part in the festival include violinist Katariina Maria Kits, percussionist Anto Õnnis, pianist Sten Heinoja, conductor and singer Endrik Üksvärav and cellist Marcel Johannes Kits.
The musical collaboration between artists from the Jewish state and those from the Eastern European country features a program including works by Beethoven and Bach, along with original concerts by Israeli and Estonian composers. In addition, an array of free open-air events will take place on February 25 to mark Estonian Independence Day. The times and venues for those events will soon be available on the event’s website.
While most concerts will take place at the Tel Aviv Opera House, other performances will be held at concert halls around the country in Rishon Lezion, Abu Ghosh, Kfar Shmaryahu, Haifa and Ashdod. Psychedelic Purim in the Negev
The costumes and colors of Purim are coming to the Negev for the third-annual “Imagine – Purim Desert Carnival” March 9 to 11 at the Desert Ashram in Shitim. The three days of festivities will offer a vast lineup of musical artists and psychedelic dance parties under the moon of the isolated desertscape.
Performers at the festival include Lucille Crew, Onogana, Quarter to Africa, Malabi Tropical, Music From the Blue Desert, Tigris, Sabir, the Muza Project, Light Child Project, Feller, Lilu, Beets Boots and more.

DJs and dance at Arava Purim carnival
Gather your friends, costumes and sleeping bags for the Shutka Purim Carnival DJ Edition March 9 and 10 in the Arava’s Khan Nahal.
The experience enables participants unwind and get dressed up to celebrate Purim. The weekend-long desert extravaganza is due to include elaborate costume parties, food and beverages, bands and DJs, eclectic competitions and various forms of debauchery in the desert.
The musical lineup includes artists: Dan K, Gal Kadan, Libra Discotheque, Doni Kisluk, Voices from Africa, Yossi Swing, Bush Beats, the Caribbean Connection, Amir Peer and Israel UP.

NORTH
Upper Galilee races in March
With spring weather due to roll into the country, hundreds of runners are expected to take part in the seasonal outdoor pleasantries by participating in the Upper Galilee Race on March 3.
For the third year running, runners can choose from a 15-kilometer, 5-kilometer or 2-kilometer race route. The 15-kilometer route runs north from the Kibbutz Hagoshrim in the Galilee Panhandle, southward toward Kibbutz Shamir on the western slopes of the Golan Heights and then back to the starting point. The 5-kilometer race will also set out from the kibbutz before turning around slightly west of Omrit in the northeast corner of the Hula Valley.
