A group of men in a car shot and killed nine people and injured 16 Friday as they sat along the banks of the Tigris river in eastern Baghdad, police and hospital officials said. The men were sitting on the banks of the river in al-Sarafiya just after dark when a black Opel four-door sedan drove by and opened fire, said Lt. Nadhim Nassar. The neighborhood is mixed and it was unclear why the men were shot, but police said the group was drinking alcoholic beverages.
