Israeli gunboats fired artillery shells at targets in the northern Gaza Strip on Friday, killing six people and wounding at least eight others, Palestinian medical officials said. The artillery shells landed near the Mediterranean coast in northern Gaza. A crowd quickly flocked to the are, screaming and running around in confusion. Israel has been targeting sites used by Palestinian militants to fire rockets toward Israel. There was no word on whether the injured people were civilians or militants.
