Egyptian security official: Guard killed on border with Israel

An Egyptian border guard was killed while patrolling the frontier with Israel early Monday, according to an Egyptian security official. Magdi Abdellah Hamza was shot in his neck while on duty, said the official, speaking on condition of anonymity as he was not allowed to speak to the media. He added that an investigation was underway. Security is tight along porous border area where local Bedouins engage in drug, weapons and human trafficking.
