Hamas pledges to hold to truce with Israel, stop violators

A senior Hamas leader says his group will hold to a three-week-old cease-fire with Israel and stop violators.
The remarks by Moussa Abu Marzouk Thursday came after two days of talks with Egypt's chief of intelligence, Omar Suleiman, who is the main mediator in the fragile truce that started June 19.
In a statement before returning to Syria, Abu Marzouk called for "solidifying" the truce, saying it was in the Palestinians' interest.
He also promised that his group, which controls the Gaza Strip, will stop violators who have been firing rockets into southern Israel.
