Iraq: 2 US Marines killed in battle with Sunnis

Two US Marines were killed during fighting in a Sunni insurgent stronghold west of Baghdad, the military said Wednesday. A Marine assigned to the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force Headquarters Group and another Marine assigned to Regimental Combat Team 5 died Tuesday from wounds sustained due to enemy action while operating in Anbar province, the military said in a statement. Their identities were not released pending notification of relatives. The deaths raised to at least 3,066 members of the US military who have died since the Iraq war started in March 2003, according to an Associated Press count.
