Lebanese shepherd killed in cluster bomb blast

Lebanon's official news agency said a cluster bomb left behind by Israeli forces has killed a shepherd. According to the report, 45-year-old Fuad Moussa Ghanawi was tending cattle near the village of Houla, close to the border with Israel, when the bomb went off on Thursday. The report said Ghanawi was taken to hospital in the port city of Sidon where he died. According to the UN mine center, more than 30 Lebanese civilians have died in cluster bomb or land mine blasts in Lebanon since the 2006 Israel-Hezbollah war. Another 14 people - de-mining Lebanese army experts, members of the UN peacekeeping force in south Lebanon and private mine action teams - have also died in similar explosions since 2006.
