Mitchell says Gaza crossings should be opened in conjunction with PA

US Middle East enjoy George Mitchell on Thursday said that the Gaza crossings must be opened in cooperation with the Palestinian Authority
In a press conference Mitchell held with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas in Ramallah, Mitchell told reporters that in order to succeed in curbing illegal weapons smuggling, a system must be in place that will enable humanitarian aid from reaching the Strip, and it must be coordinated with the Palestinian Authority.
Mitchell is on a regional tour to determine the next steps the Obama administration should take toward reviving peace negotiations following Israel's blistering military offensive against Hamas in Gaza.
