Palestinians demonstrate in Syria against Israeli raids on Gaza

Hundreds of Palestinians marched in the streets of a major refugee camp near Damascus, protesting against Israeli operations in the Gaza Strip. Some 1,000 people took part in the rally in al-Yarmouk refugee camp carrying Palestinians and Hamas flags and chanting anti-Israeli and anti-US slogans, including "no peace with the Jews." "The only language Israel understands is that of resistance. The Palestinians will only restore their rights by resistance," Amal al-Halabi, a 38-year-old housewife in the protest, said. At least 30 Palestinians, including a son of Gaza's Hamas strongman, Mahmoud Zahar, have been killed since the violence escalated Tuesday. Hamas and other groups have fired more than 150 rockets and mortars into Israel since Tuesday.
