State-of-the-art waste treatment plant for Ramallah approved

A state-of-the-art US$20 million waste treatment plant was approved for Ramallah and its environs by the Civil Administration this week. The German bank, KFW, will finance the project, which would provide a solution to the sewage predicament for 200,000 residents. Sewage treatment is a major problem in the West Bank. The lack thereof has caused all of the major streams to become polluted, the Nature and Parks Authority reported recently. In addition to the plant, the Civil Administration issued five orders for laying and improving pipes. As a result, 16 Palestinian villages will be connected to the water network.
