Two roadside bombs targeting US military convoys exploded in Baghdad on Monday, a national holiday in Iraq, wounding two Iraqi civilians, police said.
No American casualties were immediately reported, as US forces closed off both areas near the convoys of Humvees, police said.
The first bomb exploded at 8 a.m. in the al-Mashtal district of eastern Baghdad, wounding two Iraqi civilians, said police Maj. Mahir Musa.
The second blast, which was powerful enough to be heard across central Baghdad, occurred at 9:45 a.m. on a highway in the nearby district of Kamsara, said police Lt. Bilal Ali Majid. No casualties were immediately reported there.
