A second woman who was in the area was lightly injured by shrapnel.

Local residents feared a terrorist attack had taken place.

Large numbers of police were mobilized to the area and sealed off the blast site. The initial investigation was headed by Amakim police sub-district head Cmdr. Nissim Levi.
