Man in 20s killed in Afula car explosion

Blast caused by grenade planted in man's vehicle; police suspect attack was criminally-motivated; second woman lightly injured.

A man in his 20s was killed by an explosive device planted in a vehicle in Afula on Tuesday evening, in what police have described as a criminally-motivated attack. 
The blast rocked Afula's Rehov Kirshtein, near a post office, and caused critical injuries to the individual.

He was rushed by ambulance to the Ha'emek hospital in Afula, where he died of his injuries soon afterward. 
A second woman who was in the area was lightly injured by shrapnel.
Local residents feared a terrorist attack had taken place. 
Large numbers of police were mobilized to the area and sealed off the blast site. The initial investigation was headed by Amakim police sub-district head Cmdr. Nissim Levi. 
"We stress that this is a criminal incident," police said. 
Police did not immediately release the name of the casualty.
