The show, which Amazon Studios announced on Monday would be picked up for two seasons, features an Upper West Side Jewish housewife who rethinks her life choices and pursues a stand-up career.

Last month, Amazon released five original pilots to subscribers of its Prime service.

The viewers got to rate the shows, which was used in the decision process.

The show garnered an average customer rating of 4.9 out of 5 stars, with more than 6,000 reviews, and became the first of the pilots to be picked up.

The show was created by Amy Sherman- Palladino, the creative force behind the fan favorite show Gilmore Girls.

“In her onstage debut, Mrs. Maisel killed and had audiences responding overwhelmingly with digital applause,” said Joe Lewis, head of comedy and drama at Amazon Studios in a statement. “That made it an easy decision to order two seasons from Amy and her incredible cast.

We can’t wait to bring it to customers soon.”

When reached for comment, an Amazon PR representative could not provide details on the number of episodes being produced or a timeline for filming.

Mrs. Maisel centers around Miriam “Midge” Maisel, played pitch perfectly by Rachel Brosnahan. She has the perfect life – the husband, the two kids, the best brisket and the rabbi is finally coming for Yom Kippur break-fast. Until everything changes, and she decides to throw caution to the wind and become a comedian.

While Brosnahan is undoubtedly the star, the supporting cast includes Michael Zegen, Alex Borstein, Tony Shalhoub and Marin Hinkle.

The Maisels family is far from observant, but Jewish culture and jokes are evident in every scene, and the show embraces it unapologetically. From jokes about brisket to Yom Kippur, Sammy Davis Jr. and even Buchenwald, Midge is as Jewish as can be, and viewers shouldn’t expect her to forget that anytime soon.e original pilots to subscribers of its Prime service.
