Research by Office Depot, Israel’s largest and leading network of technology and equipment for school supplies, has shown that the back-to-school product market is estimated at NIS 330 million.

The survey, which sampled 500 parents of school-aged children, also predicted an increase of 5% in Back-to-school sales compared to the same period last year.

It also showed a transition to the purchase of non-branded products at reduced costs.

The Office Depot chain will have 25 sales fairs for back-to-school products, and in 20 stores, the sales fairs will take place outside the store. The chain is investing NIS 500,000 in setting up the sales fairs.

The results show that the school item expenditure per student in primary school is NIS 300-NIS 400, and the average expenditure per student in middle and high school is NIS 200-NIS 300.

Office Depot offers more than 12,000 different products: bags, stationery, paper products, computers, printers, binders, furniture and more, with a variety of exclusive content for the school and office environment.

They survey also determined that orders for back-to-school products from websites abroad are not satisfactory, the variety is not large enough and the delivery takes too long, especially with most purchases being done in the last two weeks before school starts.

The chain has also opened two branches in the Israeli-Arab sector, in Umm el-Fahm and in Yirka, where the products are adapted to the sector, including Arabic keyboards, Arabic daily planners and more.
