The West has made some fantastic discoveries. Science, art, and technology are a few of the fields in which Western countries have made tremendous advancements. That said, Israel has enjoyed years of scientific, economic, and cultural prosperity while many Western countries, such as Europe, suffered through the dark ages. This article is not to take away from Western progress but rather highlight some of the Jewish inventions that made a monumental impact on the world.

Health has also always played an intrinsic role in Jewish ideologies. Alternative methods of healing have been and continue to be practiced. Maintaining a healthy mind and body is one of the main reasons why progress is possible in this area. Besides developing some world-changing inventions, Israelis have also made outstanding discoveries.

And now, let’s take a look at some of the groundbreaking inventions that were made possible by Jewish scientists and businessmen.

Genetic Engineering

While not everyone is on board with genetically modified foods, genetic engineering is gaining popularity as a means of developing a cancer treatment. Furthermore, organisms that are genetically modified are being used to develop insulin and prevent diseases from affecting crops.

These important benefits were made possible by Paul Berg, a Jewish scientist, in 1972. He created the first recombinant DNA molecules. These molecules form the basis of modern genetic engineering, making its advancements possible.

Whether you prescribe to it or not, capitalism is the most widely used economic system in the world. Capitalism began its rise to prominence in the 15th century when feudalism came to an end. Though it may appear to be a Western ideology, the term “capitalism” was first coined by a Jewish political economist named David Ricardo. He used the term in his 1817 piece of writing called Principles of Political Economy and Taxation. Today we recognize Karl Marx as being the forefather of capitalism. Karl Marx is descendant of the Ashkenazi Jewish ancestry.

The very search engine you used to arrive at this article was created by two Jewish colleagues. Their invention has shaped the world, and the billion-dollar company is at the forefront of modern-day innovation. The two Jewish men, Larry Page and Sergey Brin, developed the search engine while they attended Stanford University. “Don’t be evil” became their motto and is still embodied by the company.

We have mentioned numerous Jewish people who created impactful inventions. These are just a few of the most prominent people. There are many more influential Jewish people making a their mark on the world.

While the West has made some remarkable discoveries, one cannot deny the impact that Jewish people have had.
