60 Sporting Heroes for 60 Years: No. 34 Anat Draigor

Spending most of her career on what was once considered the "Maccabi Tel Aviv of Women's basketball", Anat Draigor is the woman who put female hoops on the Israeli map. As a shooting guard for Elitzur Holon in the 1980s and '90s, she led her team to 16 national championships and 14 State cups. For the 1990/91 season she was accepted to play at French club Racing Club De Paris and became the first Israel woman to play basketball abroad. Another of her great accomplishments came in 2006, many years after her retirement from the professional league but while she continued to play lower level basketball. At 46 years old, she was inducted into the Guinness Book of World Records for scoring the most points in a female professional basketball game when she scored 136 while playing for third division team Hapoel Mate Yehuda.
