Games We Play: Fogelson edges Weil for Ga'ash monthly title

Over 40 golfers participate in the August Monthly Medal held at the Ga'ash Golf Club.

In very warm weather conditions just over 40 golfers participated in the August Monthly Medal held at the Ga'ash Golf Club yesterday. The course now has redesigned bunkers on five of its holes, making it more challenging. The "A" Division in this Monthly medal was won by Richard Fogelson with a net-69 followed by Steven Weil on net-70. In the "B" Division the honors went to Eliezer Peleg, co-owner of Ga'ash Golf Club, with a net-73. In second place was Iser Lifshitz with a net-74. Meyer E. Iny took the "C" Division with a net-70 and Alon Granot was second on net-73. Nearest to the Pin competition prize was sponsored by the Wine Center at Gaash, and was taken by Itai Gonen. In the final of the on-going 2009 Knock-Out tournament, "A" Division, Dr. Cyril Kaufman, Chairman of the Israeli Golf Federation met Dani Hurwitz, co-owner and ex-Director of Alex Original. With Kaufman playing off a 3-handicap and Hurwitz on 7, a very exciting encounter took place. After 18 holes the score was all square and veteran golfer Kaufman managed to keep his composure on the first play-off hole and won the Knock-Out trophy. Ga'ash is now looking forward to the Club Championships, to be held in the beginning of September.
