Miki Dorsman was appointed as Maccabi Rishon Lezion coach on Tuesday, after Ziv Erez quit the position earlier in the day following a 0-4 start to the BSL season. The 42-year-old Dorsman owned and coached Hapoel Holon last season, guiding the team to an historic league title with a victory over Maccabi Tel Aviv in the BSL final. "This is the right place for me," Dorsman said about Rishon on Tuesday. "I've watched the club from afar and I believe it can succeed far more than it has done to date. "Our first goal will be to stabilize the team. "We need to help the players forget everything that has happened so far and inject optimism into the team." Despite building a promising roster in the off-season, Rishon got off to the worst possible start, losing all its games, with three of the four defeats also coming against the league's newly-promoted sides. "This isn't an easy day for me and the players," Rishon captain Avi Sukar said. "We will do all we can to make sure Miki succeeds."
