Shahar Pe'er's singles career may be in shambles, but, as far as her doubles play is concerned, matters couldn't be going any better. The 21-year-old Israeli, who is positioned at a career best No. 14 in the doubles rankings, advanced with partner Victoria Azarenka to the quarterfinals of the French Open on Sunday. The Israeli/Belarusian duo, which is seeded No. 6 at Roland Garros, came back from a set down against No. 11 seeds Shuai Peng and Tiantian Sun, winning 5-7, 7-6 (3), 6-2. Next up for Pe'er and Azarenka, who reached the Australian Open final earlier this year, are the winners of the third round match between Kveta Peschke and Rennae Stubbs, who are seeded No. 3, and Casey Dellacqua and Francesca Schiavone. Andy Ram and Yoni Erlich failed once more to progress past the third round at Roland Garros on Sunday, losing 4-6, 4-6 to Bruno Soares and Dusan Vemic. The Israelis, who were seeded No. 3 in Paris, struggled throughout the clay court season and despite receiving a favorable draw, crashed out yet again at the third round of the French Open.
