It meant that Spain took an unassailable 3-0 lead in the semifinal tie, following defeats for Israel's Harel Levy and Dudi Sela on Friday. Levy (140) lost to world no. 19 David Ferrer 1-6, 4-6, 3-6, while Sela (29) was beaten by Juan Carlos Ferrero (21) 4-6, 2-6, 0-6.
