Olympic medal-winning windsurfer Shahar Zubari showed on Saturday that he is no flash in the pan, winning gold in the RS:X section of the Skandia Sail for Gold regatta in Weymouth, England. The 22-year-old, who took bronze in the same event at the Olympics in Beijing the summer, had been at the top of the leaderboard for the vast majority of the five-day event, and finished with 18 net points, 12 ahead of Britain's Nick Dempsey in second place. The race was held on the same course which will be used at the London Olympics in four years time, where Zubari has already set his sights on winning gold. Zubari has been through a tough few weeks since causing a mini diplomatic crisis when he insulted the Chinese people in an interview with an Israeli newspaper two weeks ago. But the young surfer let his talent do the talking in Weymouth and confirmed his place as one of Israel's greatest sporting prospects.
