Shuk Hapishpeshim, Old Jaffa's flea market, takes on a completely different flavor on Thursday nights in June, when free concerts, performance art and installations will be held in outdoor living rooms set up along its alleyways.
In the "main living room," party-going bargain hunters can relax on sofas while listening to a live broadcast of the event's radio program, Vintage Fiction. The broadcast will be hosted by Tomer Adam, who has collaborated with artists including Jazzanova, Air and Metropolin. At various other spots in the small, narrow streets, attractions will include video art, experimental cinema and recycled art installations.
On a regular day, the flea market is the place to find vintage clothing, second-hand furniture and possibly that hard-to-find piece your old Beta video machine has been missing. During festival nights an additional array of stalls selling records, second-hand books, collectibles and more will be set up.
