Jewish actress Rachel Bloom ("Crazy Ex-Girlfriend") organized dozens of show biz personalities in a raucous musical plea for American citizens to vote against Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump. Mayim Bialik and Elizabeth Banks, who practices Judaism, joined the Funny or Die production, "Holy Sh*t (You've Got to Vote)".
Amidst variations of referring to Trump as a "walking STD," the tune contains such lyrics as "Look obviously only Hitler's Hitler (no one does Hitler like Hitler), but break Mein Kampf up into tiny parts and it reads like a Trump rant on Twitter," and "If you need a refresher on post World War I Germany, they had an authoritarian political outsider stoking xenophobia in a nation where the poor felt marginalized, and blaming complex problems on scapegoated minorities."
Golden Globe award winning Rachel Bloom was raised a secular Jew, is married a half-Israeli Jewish man, and previously told The Jerusalem Post that Judaism is very present in her life. In March, she traveled to Israel to visit friends who had recently made aliya.
Referring to participants at  Trump’s rallies being caught saying “go back to Auschwitz” and doing the Nazi salute, Bloom quipped: “We didn’t live in Auschwitz. I’m not going back there.”
“The idea of awakening the racists and bigots in America that have been lying low, and that becoming cool – it’s scary,” she added. “And then, I’ve really screwed myself if there are problems for Jews in America. I have a show about being Jewish!”
