US President Donald Trump indicated that he plans to meet New York City mayor Zohran Mamdani at the White House, according to a comment to reporters on Sunday night.

Trump told reporters that "The mayor of New York would like to meet with us, and we'll work something out," while preparing to board a flight in Florida.

"He would like to come to Washington and meet," Trump affirmed.

"We want to see everything work out well for New York," Trump concluded.

Trump commented on Mamdani, saying that he "would like to see the new mayor do well," but that if Mamdani did not respect Washington, he "does not have a chance of succeeding," in an interview with Fox News on November 5.

Trump's comments against Mamdani on election day

Trump said on November 4 that he would restrict federal funds for New York City if Democratic candidate Zohran Mamdani won the city's mayoral elections and urged supporters to vote for former governor Andrew Cuomo.

Trump said on Truth Social that if Mamdani won the election, it would be "highly unlikely that I will be contributing Federal Funds, other than the very minimum as required."

Trump also declared that any New York City Jews who voted for Mamdani were stupid, as he allegedly dislikes Jews.

"Any Jewish person that votes for Zohran Mamdani, a proven and self professed JEW HATER, is a stupid person!!!" Trump said in a Truth Social post.
