Netanyahu to Pence: We both can say ‘Jerusalem, the capital of Israel’

PM Netanyahu said he wanted to thank US President Donald Trump for his “historic declaration” of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, noting that Vice President Pence was one of the move's main supporters.

Welcome to Jerusalem, “capital of Israel,” Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told visiting US Vice President Mike Pence at the start of their meeting Monday morning at the Prime Minster’s office.
Netanyahu said over the years that he has had the privilege of welcoming hundreds of visitors to Israel’s capital. “This is the first time that we both can say the words, ‘Jerusalem, the capital of Israel.’”
Netanyahu said he wanted to thank US President Donald Trump for his “historic declaration” of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, noting that Pence was one of the move's main supporters.
Netanyahu said that US-Israel relations have never been stronger, and that he hopes to discuss with Pence during his visit how to promote peace and security in the region, which he said are “our joint goals.”
