IDF foils stabbing attack in Hebron near Cave of Patriarchs

The victim was slightly injured and is in stable condition.

An attempted stabbing attack was foiled by the IDF in Hebron near the Cave the Patriarchs on Monday morning, according to a statement released by the IDF Spokesperson’s Unit.
The suspect was shot dead by Israeli security forces and a soldier was very lightly injured, the statement said.
Palestinian media identified the attacker as Mohammed Arif al-Atrash, 42, from Hebron, a father of seven.
The soldier, who walked from the scene of the incident to an ambulance, remains in stable condition.
Yossi Dayan, the commander of the ZAKA emergency response team in Hebron, said in a statement, “When I arrived at the scene, I saw the terrorist lying in the middle of the road, and next to him a sharp object, after he tried to stab civilians and was neutralized by the soldiers.
“A young man who was lightly injured by the terrorist was treated at the scene and then taken to the hospital..”
