Deri tours one of Europe's oldest synagogues on official visit to Prague
Deri is scheduled to visit interior ministers from the Czech Republic and Hungary as well as other Jewish institutions.

Interior Minister Arye Deri visited the Old New Synagogue in Prague on Thursday as part of an official scheduled visit to the Czech Republic and Hungary.The Old New Synagogue, or Altneuschul, is Europe’s oldest active synagogue – built 750 years ago – and is known for its connection to the Jewish folklore of the Golem. The folklore dictates that the Golem’s body lies in the attic of the synagogue.The Golem of Prague was a creature created from clay or mud in the 16th century, brought to life by Rabbi Judah Loew ben Bezalel, also known as the Maharal.Deri is scheduled to visit interior ministers from the Czech Republic and Hungary as well as other Jewish institutions.Prof. Shlomo Mor Yosef, director-general of the Population and Immigration Authority, will join Deri on his visit.
