Egyptian officials demanded Wednesday that "Israel hold its aggression" and practice restraint toward the Gaza Strip.
The comments, told by a third-party diplomatic source to Palestinian Ma'an news, came only hours after Israel responded to a Gazan rocket that was fired into the heart of Israeli civilian areas.
On Tuesday night, a mid-range rocket was fired at Israel and landed in Gan Yavne. The Israeli Air Force attacked four targets in the Gaza Strip early Wednesday morning in response.

Following the rocket being fired into Israel, Hamas security forces surrounded militants from the al-Quds Brigade, the armed wing of Islamic Jihad, and arrested a number of them, according to a separate report in Palestinian media, quoting sources in Gaza.
A Palestinian source quoted by Israel Radio said that a number of organizations in the Strip convened following the rocket being fired, which the source said goes against Palestinian interests and the interests of all parties in the Gaza Strip.
