Fatah-linked Facebook shows Peres going to hell for 'crimes' against Palestinians
Social media affiliated with Palestinian party demonizes the former Israeli president.

A Facebook page affiliated with the Palestinian party Fatah on Thursday published a caricature of Shimon Peres apparently headed for hell.The demonizing illustration depicts Peres handcuffed and shaking alongside a drawing of the Grim Reaper in front of a fiery backdrop.In the cartoon, first reported by Palestinian Media Watch, the personified image of death holds an English list of "crimes" the faction accuses the former president of committing against the Palestinians. 'Gaza', 'Kfar Qana,' 'Deir Yassin,' 'Beirut,' the 'Hagana Gang' and the Dimona nuclear facility are all listed on the long list.According to the activist-run account's post, Fatah activists accuse the former president of responsibility for what they say are massacres in Palestinian villages and of implementing Israel's nuclear program in Dimona.However, on Wednesday, Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas sent a condolence letter to the family of Peres expressing his sadness over the death of the veteran statesman.Abbas said Peres was a partner in peace with Yasser Arafat and Yitzhak Rabin and lauded him for exerting great effort to make peace since the signing of the Oslo Accords, which he said were unwavering until the last moment of his life. The specific contents of the letter were not disclosed.Former president Peres died on Wednesday at age 93 two weeks after suffering a stroke.
