IN PICTURES: Old City and surrounding streets under closure in Jerusalem

Thousands of policemen are patrolling the streets, in and around the area of the Old City in order to prevent incidents.

The Old City of Jerusalem and the adjacent streets are closed for traffic on Friday, and for men under 50. Local residents under 50 can enter by showing their ID. Police checkpoints are scattered all around the area, and random checks are being conducted.

Thousands of policemen are patrolling the streets, in and around the area of the Old City in order to prevent incidents today. The police have been taking preventative security measures, and sent back buses of Muslim worshipers coming from northern Israel.

So far, no special incidents were reported in Jerusalem but security forces are braced for disorder, especially as Friday prayers approach when tens of thousands are expected to gather at the Temple Mount.
