Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif expressed his country’s full support for Palestinian “resistance” movements as he met with the leader of the Islamic Jihad terrorist group, which is closely allied with Iran.
Zarif congratulated Ramadan Abdullah Shallah for the “victory” in the Gaza war this past summer during a meeting on Sunday in Tehran.
“The Palestinians’ victory in that war and the previous victories of the brave Palestinian nation have proved the falsehood of the tales on invulnerability of the Zionist regime and its armed forces,” Zarif said, Iran’s Fars News Agency reported.
Shallah thanked Iran for its support for the Palestinians.
“The resistance of the Palestinian nation in the 51-day war in confrontation with an army equipped with one of the largest arsenals of the world was both great and exemplary,” he said, according to Iran’s Tasnim News Agency.
“We believe the West Bank, too, should be armed just like Gaza, and those who are interested in the fate of the Palestinians must work in this respect so that the pains and miseries of the Palestinian people will be decreased due to their mighty hands and the weakness of the Zionist enemy,” Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, said in July, according to Fars.
