Palestinian killed in clashes with IDF during terrorist home demolition

A Palestinian was killed early Thursday morning in clashes with IDF troops, who were demolishing the home of a terrorist in the Arab village of Kfar Akab, north of Jerusalem in the West Bank. On Monday the Supreme Court ordered that the interior walls of Abu Sabih Misbah, the terrorist who killed two Israelis in a shooting attack at Jerusalem's Ammunition Hill on October 9th which killed police officer Yosef Kirma, 29 and 60-year-old Levana Melihi, be destroyed and its exterior entrances and windows be sealed. IDF soldiers carrying out the demolition of the home of Abu Sabih Misbah, the terrorist who killed two Israelis in a shooting attack at Jerusalem's Ammunition Hill on October 9th which killed police officer Yosef Kirma, 29 and Levana Melihi, 60. According to the army, during the demolition the soldiers were attacked by local residents, who threw improvised explosive devices at the troops. The soldiers responded with fire, killing one of the rioters who threw an explosive at the troops, according to the IDF Spokesman's Unit. The Palestinian health ministry identified the man as 19-year-old Ahmed Osman al-Kharoubi, who according to Palestinian media had been critically injured after being shot in the neck and died shortly after his arrival to the hospital. A controversial tactic, Israeli officials say home demolitions are a key deterrent to stop other potential attackers, but Palestinians and human rights groups argue that it is a form of collective punishment. According to an August report by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, 684 buildings in the West Bank and Jerusalem were demolished compared to 531 for all of 2015.
