An Assad government building in Quneitra near the border with Israel was struck by a missile on Wednesday, sending a plume of black smoke into the air.According to Arab media reports, regime sources and Hezbollah said that al-Qaida’s branch in Syria, Jabhat al-Nusra, fired a missile at the structure on the Syrian Golan and that there were casualties.According to Channel 2, Hezbollah’s information branch added that “the Israeli enemy scoped out the area from which missiles were fired, near Jabhat al-Nusra’s positions.”Hezbollah and Damascus both denied earlier, unconfirmed, claims that Israeli fighter jets attacked the structure. Al Jazeera had claimed the attack was an Israeli missile strike and was cited by several Israeli media outlets.On Sunday in the same area, the IDF fired two Patriot missiles at a drone that crossed over into Israeli airspace from Syria, but they missed their target and the unmanned aircraft returned to Syria.An IAF jet fighter also fired an airto- air missile at the drone, which also missed its target. The IDF is still seeking to ascertain who operated the drone.
