When one goes on the diplomatic war path in 2017, it's apparently best to head to YouTube.
In advance of next week’s meeting between Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas and US President Donald Trump, the PLO Negotiations Affairs Department has produced a short video claiming to show that Israeli politicians have no interest in a Palestinian state.
“This video animation presents a sample of statements made by various Israeli officials mainly to Israeli and Hebrew-language media, which are line with Israel’s colonization policies and practices that negate the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination,” the department told the media.
The video shows photographically manipulated images of Israeli politicians making statements. Among those seen quoted are lawmakers from the right-wing Bayit Yehudi party, such as Education Minister Naftali Bennett and Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked. Deputy Foreign Minister Tzipi Hotovely and Culture Minster Miri Regev of the Likud are also featured.
Although Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is also featured with a statement that appears as if he opposes the establishment of a Palestinian state, he has spoken multiple times about his support of two states for two peoples.
The video ends with a shot of Palestinians walled in behind concrete and barbed wire with an Israeli tank at their door and a helicopter hovering overhead.
