Dramatic footage from the security cameras at the Rami Levy supermarket in Mishor Adumim released Thursday showed the stabbing of two shoppers and a chase scene as an off-duty security guard shot the 16-year-old Palestinian attacker. The terrorist attack occurred the previous afternoon at around 4:15, when the teen, wearing jeans and a navy blue sweatshirt, walked into the supermarket, located in the Mishor Adumim Industrial Park in the West Bank east of Jerusalem. In the 33-second video clip, which is split into two sections, one can see two men.One is wearing a blue and white striped jersey; the other, off-duty Magen David Adom paramedic Zohar Lomar, is wearing a pale yellow button down shirt and a kippa on his head. Both men have shopping carts filled with groceries and they are standing between the wine section and an open freezer. The teen stands next to them, holding onto an empty cart and is almost unnoticeable in the opening frame. Behind the trio, a woman picks up an item from the freezer as a nearby employee sweeps the floor. The man in the blue and white jersey moves his cart slightly, to better study the wines, when suddenly the teen stabs him in the back by his shoulders. The man falls briefly to the floor but then uses the cart to help him stand back up.A second later, the teen stabs Lomar in the back of his head, but the paramedic remains standing. He turns and struggles for a few seconds with the attacker, who stabs him in his hand.Witnessing the assault, the employee who was sweeping runs away down an aisle, clutching his broom. The Palestinian terrorist then stops struggling with Lomar and attempts to run away down the aisle, with Lomar in pursuit. An off-duty security guard from the Prime Minister’s Office who was in the midst of shopping for groceries jumps in front of Lomar and chases the attacker, drawing his pistol as he runs. There is a moment on camera when all four men are seen running down the aisle, one after the other. They skirt around shopping carts terrified customers had abandoned as they raced out of the store. The camera footage does not show the moment when the security guard shoots the attacker in the leg and other shoppers hold him down until the police arrive.Lomar, who lost his cellphone in the attack, managed to borrow another one and called MDA to report the incident.“There is an attempted terrorist attack. I am also hurt. He attacked me from behind and ran and people ran after him and I heard shots near the entrance,” he is heard saying on a recording of the call. Both he and the other stabbing victim were moderately wounded and taken to Hadassah- University Medical Center in Ein Kerem. The terrorist, who is from the nearby village of Azariya (Bethany), was taken to Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem. Security forces said he had no arrest record.Police arrested two additional Palestinian suspects and are looking into the possibility that the two drove the teenager to the store. Separately, they are also looking into the possibility that the terrorist was not armed when he entered the supermarket, but stole the knife from the store’s deli.Businesses in the Mishor Adumim Industrial park, including the supermarket, employee both Israelis and Palestinians. The Rami Levy supermarket, where Israelis and Palestinians both shop, reopened within two hours of the attack.
