Yesh Atid faction members opened the Knesset winter session on Monday morning with a visit to the Lion's Gate in Jerusalem's Old City, the site of several attacks that took place during the recent wave of terror that has struck Israel.Yesh Atid chairman, Yair Lapid said, "We chose to have our faction meeting here, at the Lion's Gate, a place where just this morning there was an attempted terrorist attack.""Today starts the winter session in the Knesset and we have removed our request for a vote of no confidence in the government because this is not the time to deal in politics," he added. "That is what the country of Israel needs right now- unity, the feeling that we are all standing together against a common enemy," he emphasized. The faction members received a security briefing at the scene by Commander David Doron Turgeman, and heard about the efforts being made by security forces on the ground to protect civilian life.Lapid expressed his support for the security forces and for the quick response of the Border Police officers to Monday morning's thwarted terror attack in which Border Police officers stationed in the area ordered a man to stop for inspection. The terrorist approached the officers, pulled a knife from his pocket, and attempted to stab a police officer in the chest. The terrorist was promptly shot and killed."A terrorist came and tried to stab the security forces and was shot and killed and that is the way it should be," he said. "The rabbis teach that if someone comes up against you to kill you, you should kill him first and that should be our working model."
